Create real-time visibility into your field operations |
Safety and productivity of field operations are increased, outage response time is improved and fleet costs are controlled, while fuel consumption and emission reductions are reduced to support green fleet initiatives
Clevest has created a configurable, GPS-enabled automatic vehicle location (AVL) decision support tool specifically for the utility industry. Our AVL solution correlates GPS information about the location of mobile resources with a utility’s asset infrastructure and integrates with our mobile workforce management product to support map-based work assignments.
Clevest’s AVL is fully integrated with the ESRI GIS to provide accurate information on the location of a utility’s assets and mobile personnel as well as to manage driver behavior. And our AVL software can be installed within a utility’s enterprise or hosted by Clevest.
Solution components
- Utility-specific AVL
- GIS overlays
- Integrated MWFM
- Geofences and alerts
- Reporting
- Deployment models
- MultiSpeak-certified
Increase visibility into field operations
Connect the field and the office with the most usable, functional and visually appealing browser-based AVL solution available to utilities today. The solution provides a single, integrated view of a utility's asset infrastructure and the real time, GPS-based location of vehicles within it. Using dynamic icons and graphics on the AVL map, track all vehicle locations, determine the closest vehicle to a task, monitor or query the status or progress on a task, and quickly address any issues that may occur. Realize efficiencies with the opportunity for more direct management of vehicles.
Benefits
- Access the AVL solution anytime, anywhere from the convenience of a web browser, or install the desktop version on dedicated computers in the office
- Build more effective utility field force management procedures
- Provide greater crew support and safety with real-time location and status information
- Improve response time during outages
- Increase customer satisfaction by achieving higher standards of performance in the field
- Reduce reliance on and lower the costs of radio communications
View field operations against asset infrastructure
Supervise field operations more effectively with optional feature to view comprehensive, ESRI-based asset information dynamically in relation to vehicles. Display individual GIS asset layers as needed on the street- and satellite-level AVL map, and overlay vehicle and order location and geofences against specific GIS asset layers. Optionally, the AVL solution can overlay vehicle information onto an OMS map.
Benefits
- Use a single platform to view asset infrastructure in relation to vehicles
- Put comprehensive asset information at the fingertips of dispatchers and supervisors
- Manage field operations more productively
Manage mobile workforce from AVL map
Use the AVL solution integrated with Clevest's mobile workforce management application for a single, powerful view of crews in the field combined with the work they are performing. Directly from the AVL map, view orders that are assigned to crews and monitor the progress on orders throughout the day with real time status indicators. Use the AVL map to create orders by clicking a GIS asset, a physical location, an address or latitude/longitude coordinates, to assign orders to the most appropriate crews, as well as to reassign or cancel orders as required.
Benefits
- View at-a-glance on the AVL map orders that are assigned to crews
- Direct the activities of crews more productively
- Respond to emergencies faster
- Manage vehicles optimally
Enhance day-to-day driver safety
Better manage driver safety by using zones and alerts to monitor vehicle location, status and activities in real-time. Create a virtual fenced area on the AVL map and set up alerts to track the proximity of vehicles to the area, when and if vehicles enter and exit the area, and driver status within the area. Using geofences alerts helps to protect crews from potentially hazardous or dangerous conditions and helps dispatchers to respond appropriately when specific events occur or situations arise.
Benefits
- Supervise crew activities in relation to specific virtual areas in real-time
- View the exact location of crews in an emergency and respond immediately
- Redirect routine activities and manage exception conditions as required
Analyze vehicle activity
Generate utility-specific standard reports based on current and historical vehicle information transmitted by in-vehicle wireless modems. View data such vehicle ID, status, location, bearing, speed, Power Take Off (PTO) on/off, stopped/idle duration and after hours usage directly from the AVL map, or in tabular form with the desktop application. Play back the route history and activities for any vehicle in the fleet in a specific time span, or choose a geographic area and play back the route history and activities for all vehicles in that specific area over a specific time frame.
Benefits
- Record vehicle data automatically for analysis and to document vehicle activity
- Create standard vehicle reports quickly without leaving the AVL map
- Validate vehicle activity and change procedures or routes to manage vehicles more efficiently
- Resolve customer inquiries constructively with reports on vehicle location, time and travel speed
Choose the model that fits
Deployment options provide the power of choice: utilities can install the AVL solution within the enterprise or have it hosted by Clevest. With the enterprise model, the solution is installed on dedicated hardware that resides within the utility's firewall environment, and is actively managed by the utility's IT department. With the hosted model, the solution resides within Clevest's IT infrastructre on hardware that is owned and maintained by Clevest.
Benefits
- Determine level of investment in server hardware, infrastructure and software licences
- Evaluate level of control required over operating environment
- Identify IT resources for deployment, administration and maintenance of solution
- Decide on timeline for deployment
Interoperable with GIS and OMS
Clevest's AVL solution is MultiSpeak-certified to interoperate with GIS and OMS solutions that also adopt MultiSpeak data model and service definitions. MultiSpeak is a leading standard in the electric cooperative utility industry for enterprise application interoperability. For utilities with integration initiatives, using applications written to the MultiSpeak Specification offers an independent measure of assurance that software investments will function as expected.
Benefits
- Standard specific to the electric cooperative utility industry
- Meets critical requirement for interoperability of enterprise software
- Tested in multiple existing installations
- Reduces need for extensive and expensive customization
