POSITION SUMMARY

The VP Global Sales and Marketing reports to the CEO and is a member of the Company’s executive team.  He/she is responsible for the direction and management of all sales, business development, and partner activities, including market competitiveness, pricing, compensation, and distribution and channel strategy.  He/she will also be responsible for providing executive leadership and management of the Company’s marketing organization and in-bound and out-bound marketing activities worldwide, which include: corporate marketing, partner/channel marketing, and product marketing.  The VP Global Sales and Marketing will drive the Company’s achievement of its customer acquisition and revenue goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee the hiring and development of a scalable and highly effective global sales organization.
  2. Be a role model for the company culture.
  3. Participate in Strategic initiatives and promote the Company’s vision, values, goals, and plans.
  4. Establish compensation, training, and sales incentive programs.
  5. Drive the development of North American and International sales strategies.
  6. Oversee marketing staff to develop, establish, and direct channel and distribution strategies and programs.
  7. Maintain key customer relationships and develop and implement strategies for expanding the Company’s customer base.
  8. Oversee marketing staff to develop and execute lead programs.
  9. Manage overall sales process, set appropriate metrics for sales funnel management.
  10. Direct and coordinate company sales and marketing functions.
  11. Develop and coordinate sales selling cycle and methodology.
  12. Direct and oversee the company marketing function to identify and develop new customers for products and services.
  13. Research and develop strategies and plans which identify marketing opportunities, direct marketing, and new project development.
  14. Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results.
  15. Develop and manage sales and marketing budgets, and oversee the development and management of internal operating budgets.
  16. Plan and coordinate public affairs, and communications efforts, to include public relations and community outreach.
  17. Directly manage major and critical developing client accounts, and coordinate the management of all other accounts.
  18. Ensure substantial qualified leads for direct sales, whether through trade shows, the Web site, or other qualified list acquisition.
  19. Participate in the development of new project proposals.
  20. Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  21. Supervise the planning and development of company marketing and communications materials.
  22. Ensure a consistent look and feel among all collateral materials.
  23. Represent the company at various community and/or business meetings to promote the company.
  24. Supervise the preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs.
  25. Participate in creating strategic partnerships and alliances that ensure that the company is highly visible and properly positioned.
  26. Strategic planning including corporate positioning market and competitive analysis, customer segment selection and penetration plans, and related product positioning.
  27. Oversee marketing communications including branding, public relations, advertising, white papers, trade shows, seminars and events collateral materials, analyst and market research management, and website design and content either directly or on an outsourced basis.
  28. Oversee product marketing including product launch management, sales training, presentations, sales tools, competitive analysis and general sales support.
  29. Work with the CEO and the other executive team members to identify and develop strategic alliances, communication with BoD members, and close/grow major customer accounts.
  30. Educate and promote positive relations with partners, vendors, and distributors.
  31. Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations.
  32. Work with department managers and corporate staff to develop five year and ten year business plans for the company.
  33. Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  34. Serve on planning and policy-making committees.
  35. Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate department staff.
  36. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. At least 7 years enterprise sales experience in the Utilities or comparable markets, with 4 years in a senior management position.
  2. Proven sales experience and high degree of success in selling enterprise solutions (software, hardware and services).
  3. Experience in a high growth, rapid paced environment.
  4. Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels.
  5. Established contacts and relationships with potential customers and channel partners.
  6. Outstanding consultative selling abilities and excellent interpersonal skill with executive level customers and partners.
  7. Proven evangelical sales track record in a new product / new market environment.
  8. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results driven, team oriented environment.
  9. Experience with sales funnel management.
  10. Demonstrated ability to manage often outsourced marketing activities (PR, corporate identity system, website, etc.)
  11. Strong strategic planning and analysis skills in sales, marketing, and business (competitive) strategy.
  12. Extremely effective public speaking skills and presence.
  13. Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Knowledge of structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations. Experience in planning marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, and successful public relations efforts.
  14. Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  15. Extensive knowledge of software marketing issues, technical markets, pricing models, channels of distribution, technology trends, public and investor relations, advertising, statistics and analysis, competitive strategies, event marketing, channel marketing, product marketing, presentation, sales and strong training skills during high growth stages.
  16. This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Masters Degree in Marketing and ten years of experience in a senior-level sales and/or marketing position.
  17. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend work.

EDUCATION
